We are the third owners of Split Rock Blueberry Farm. The blueberry bushes were
planted in 1966. We have since added a back field, but it will need time to grow
before it can become a picking field. We would like to have rotating fields since
the demand for fresh blueberries continues to grow each year. The new field has
also helped us with the nursery portion of our business. We get to see what varieties
are extremely hardy, good tasting, monitor the ripening time and size of the berries.
John and I really weren’t planning on becoming blueberry farmers, but our customers
are glad that we did! We were just looking for land to build a house on and the
blueberry bushes were an added bonus! We have since built our home on the land and
moved into it in July of 2009. We were blessed with a wonderful baby boy in September
of 2009. Our son, Brett, will be picking berries before we know it! We hope that
you’ll join our family and come out to pick blueberries! Not only are blueberries
a “super food”, but I’m sure that you’ll enjoy making memories with your family.
Many customers say that they enjoy being out in nature and it has a calming effect.
